Top Ten Favorite Heroines From Books
brought to you by: the broke and the bookish

Emily's Picks:
1. Kasta from Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I like a girl who can stand on her own and who can show some grit.

2. Tess from Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey Tess had some issues, but she showed strength and she powered through. Which is what a hero does.

3. Malorie from the Bird Box by Josh Malerman, This was an interesting read, and Malorie would be considered a unique hero.  She had to make horrible decision in order to protect her children.  I would highly recommend this book.

4. Flavia de Luce from Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. What can I say?  This girl is brilliant, funny, and in the end she gets her man. or murderer.  So much fun to read.

5. Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I had to put her on my list.  I would have to say that the first book is my favorite.  I loved Katniss in the first book, I believe she was her greatest in that one.

Jeni's picks.
1. Tamsin Greene from Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough: I loved the Witch duet.

2. Caroletta Wren from The Body Movers series by Stephanie Bond: I actually liked these books better than the Stephanie Plum series. I have been waiting forever for the 7th book to come out. Supposedly it is coming out on March 17th.

3. Isra from Of Beast and Beauty by Stacy Jay: This is my favorite retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

4. Dashti From The Book of A Thousand Days by Shannon Hale: My favorite Shannon Hale story. The beginning is a little long but worth the read.

5. Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: These books surprised me. I was worried I wouldn't like them because of all the hype but they are well written and fun to read.

  1. Katsa and Katniss are really great picks! I read Graceling a few years ago and I remember loving it, though I still haven't read the rest of the series! Cinder is an awesome choice too. I love your blog; Im a new follower! :)

  2. I need to read Cinder... I was thinking it was all just hype too, but it's worth my checking out.;)
I will have to check out the retelling of Beauty and the Beast, since it's one of my favorite fairy tales.
